What is the Eucharist? / ¿Qué es la Eucaristía?
The Eucharist, or Holy Communion, is our principal act of worship. The word “Eucharist” means “thanksgiving.” It is a time to gather as a community, hear God’s Word, and share in God’s grace.
La Eucaristía, o Santa Comunión, es nuestro principal acto de adoración. La palabra “Eucaristía” significa “acción de gracias.” Es un momento para reunirnos como comunidad, escuchar la Palabra de Dios y compartir la gracia de Dios.
Preparing for Worship / Preparándose para la adoración
Arrive early to pray, reflect, and review the day’s readings. Keep conversations quiet and listen to the prelude—it is itself a prayer.
Llegué temprano para orar, reflexionar y revisar las lecturas del día. Mantenga las conversaciones en voz baja y escuche el preludio; en sí mismo es una oración.
Singing & Hearing the Word / Cantar y escuchar la Palabra
Join in singing the hymns—they reflect the theme of the day. Listen carefully to the scripture readings and sermon; God speaks to us through them.
Participe cantando los himnos, que reflejan el tema del día. Escuche atentamente las lecturas de la Escritura y el sermón; Dios nos habla a través de ellos.
Postures in Worship / Posturas en la adoración
You may sit, stand, or kneel at different times. Follow the prayer book or a neighbor, but don’t worry about getting it “right.” The important thing is that you are present.
Puede sentarse, ponerse de pie o arrodillarse en diferentes momentos. Siga el libro de oraciones o a un vecino, pero no se preocupe por “hacerlo correctamente.” Lo importante es que esté presente.
Receiving Communion / Recibir la Comunión
All baptized Christians are welcome to receive the bread and wine. If you prefer a blessing instead, cross your arms over your chest. Follow the ushers’ directions to approach the altar.
Todos los cristianos bautizados son bienvenidos a recibir el pan y el vino. Si prefiere recibir una bendición en lugar de la comunión, cruce los brazos sobre el pecho. Siga las indicaciones de los ujieres para acercarse al altar.
After Communion / Después de la Comunión
Return to your seat quietly. Use this time for reflection and prayer. The service ends with a closing hymn, prayer, and dismissal to go into the world and serve.
Regrese a su asiento con tranquilidad. Use este tiempo para la reflexión y la oración. El servicio termina con un himno final, oración y despedida para salir al mundo y servir.
A Note on Grace / Una nota sobre la gracia
The Eucharist is a visible sign of God’s inward grace—a gift we receive with faith.
La Eucaristía es un signo visible de la gracia interior de Dios, un regalo que recibimos con fe.
